Meet Our Chef
Ever since I can remember I have always loved being in the kitchen. The sounds, emotions, and oh the aroma! I have always enjoyed the experience of food since I was a child. Some of my fondest childhood memories take place in the kitchen preparing meals first with my mother. Everyone who knows me knows that cooking is my therapy. It relaxes me and eases my mind.
I spent the majority of my life aiming to find what exactly it is that God put me here on this earth for, and besides always wanting to be a wife and a mother, cooking and serving people is my passion. I feel that when I cook, I put my all into it, my love is shown through my food because my passion flows visibly, and I love to see people enjoy and indulge in all the meals that I create. I love to challenge myself with new ideas and create my own when possible. I really enjoy experimenting with spicing and merging different cuisines together. I mean, have you ever had a "Wandaful Thing"?
When Covid hit, it obviously changed so much for the world. My employer decided to close his business, which would mean I would be out of a job. I knew that I didn’t want to be employed at a place where, as a chef, I would be expected to just open bags and cook what’s inside. So, my daughter and I were hanging out and she told me that I should "do my own thing". Later that night, I thought to myself, I can do Wandaful Things. And here we are. Wandaful Things is a small bistro and bakery in my hometown of Kingsland, GA. It’s a little classy and a little sassy. Just like me. Fresh, homemade, comfort food with a little razzle dazzle. We currently only have outdoor dining in our quaint garden. It’s a labor of love and my happy place.
I started Wandaful Things after not really knowing what my next step in life would be. Having the courage, fight, pride and passion to continue to show who I am and what I am capable of in spite of what others may consider as challenges. I wanted to share my passion, my way. And just as the slogan states, "because you deserve it". You deserve amazing cuisine!
I often find that if you stop worrying and trust your instincts you can be greatly rewarded. Thank you for being a part of my Wandaful family and allowing me to share with you, all of the Wandaful Things. The best is yet to come!
